About Me
I'm Udana Anjana, a final-year medical undergraduate at the Faculty of Medicine and Allied Sciences, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, with a clinical interest fixed on where AI is taking medicine next — AI-assisted diagnosis, robotic laparoscopy, wearables that catch problems before a patient walks into a clinic, assistive AI for people with disabilities, and GP systems that actually talk to each other. Health informatics is the field I'm most eager to go deeper into.
Alongside my studies I've founded three ventures: Doctor WEB, the healthcare platform behind Bestdoctor.lk; Studio Dark Arts, a photography and film studio; and Free Notes Sri Lanka, a free study-notes platform for O/L and A/L students that started as a disaster-relief effort to keep affected students studying. I'm also tech lead at the Rajarata Gynecological Endoscopy Center. On the technical side I build the whole stack around a model — training and evaluation, the web and mobile app in front of it, the cloud underneath.
As a photographer and DOP I shoot portraits, real estate, music video and event work, and I run the marketing that surrounds it: tourism and hospitality campaigns, social media, SEO, web development and brand strategy. A radiologist reading a scan and a detection model scoring the same image are doing the same job with different instruments; framing a shot is that discipline again. Medicine is what makes the rest useful — I know where a model's errors actually land on a patient, which is the part most engineering teams are missing.
